Chronicle AI ("we," "us," or "our") helps families preserve the stories, voices, and memories of the people they love. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we keep it safe — in plain language, not legal jargon.
1. What We Collect
- Account information — your name, email address, and any profile details you provide.
- Uploaded files — photos, audio recordings, video clips, and written stories you share with us to build your Chronicle.
- Payment information — processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- Usage data — basic analytics (pages visited, device type) so we can improve the service.
2. Why We Collect It
Everything we collect serves one purpose: to create your Chronicle — a preserved life story that may include written narratives, voice preservation, and video memories. We also use your email to send account updates and, if you opt in, product news.
3. Who Owns the Recordings
Your family owns everything. Every photo, audio clip, video, and written story you upload or that we produce on your behalf belongs to you and your family — always. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content. We will never sell, license, or use your recordings for training AI models.
4. How Long We Keep Data
We store your content for as long as your subscription is active. If you cancel, we keep your data for 30 days after cancellation so you have time to download everything. After that window closes, your content is permanently deleted from our servers.
5. Children Under 13
Chronicle AI is a family-oriented service, but we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 in compliance with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act). A parent or legal guardian manages the account and uploads content. Any recordings or photos featuring minors are owned entirely by the family and are subject to the same protections described in this policy.
6. Voice & Video Recording Consent
All audio and video recordings are uploaded voluntarily by the family. During checkout, you provide explicit consent acknowledging that you have the right to share any recordings you upload and that the individuals featured have agreed to participate. We never record anyone without their knowledge.
7. Data Security
- All uploaded files are encrypted at rest in Supabase storage with row-level security policies.
- Files are delivered to you via time-limited signed URLs — they cannot be accessed with a simple public link.
- Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified provider.
- All traffic between your browser and our servers uses HTTPS / TLS encryption.
8. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Regardless of where you live, you have the right to:
- Download — request a full copy of your data at any time.
- Delete — ask us to permanently remove your account and all associated content.
- Correct — update or fix any inaccurate personal information.

9. Health Disclaimer
Chronicle AI is a memory preservation service, not a health, medical, or therapeutic product. We do not diagnose, treat, or provide guidance related to any health condition. If families choose to preserve memories related to a health journey, that is their choice — but our service is not a substitute for professional medical care.
